Our Founder, Chidi O'Hanekwu, boasts an impressive 19-year career trajectory, having held esteemed positions such as Senior Branch Manager, Relationship Director, and Senior HR Resourcing Manager at the UK's premier Building Society, Nationwide. Throughout his professional journey, Chidi has fervently advocated for inclusion and diversity. His vast and active network, enriched with mentors and sponsors, is a testament to his commitment and influence.
The inception of Arc Initiative was driven by Chidi's unwavering passion to elevate others beyond his accomplishments. Throughout his career, he has consistently championed the growth of his teams, peers, and colleagues, offering them invaluable insights, coaching, and the wisdom of lived experiences. His profound joy in mentoring and guiding others culminated in the birth of this charitable organisation, designed to continue this legacy.
Established in 2021, Arc Initiative, a Black-led organisation, embarked on its mission to guide young individuals towards fulfilling career paths. Recognising the growing demand for genuine career support, we were formally registered with the charity commission on 27 July 2022. Our approach is simple yet impactful, focusing on three pivotal domains: job hunting, personal skill development, and mentoring - the cornerstones that truly shape outcomes.
Many often wonder about the origins of our name, "Arc Initiative". To Chidi, a man of faith, the 'Arc' symbolises hope, rejuvenation, and opportunity, reminiscent of Noah's Ark. But there's a personal touch too. The acronym 'ARC' represents the names of his beloved children, encapsulating a legacy he wishes to leave behind. Our mission transcends mere guidance; it's about profoundly impacting communities across the UK, empowering individuals to surmount socio-economic and corporate challenges and achieve their career aspirations.
Inspired by a thought-provoking question once posed at a corporate conference - "What impact will you make during your tenure?" - Chidi's vision has always been clear: to create a lasting, positive imprint on the world.
